2014 was a cracking Vintage in the Hunter and this wine is standing strong.
Straw green and with beautiful richness on the nose from partial Malo fermentation showing complex notes of oatmeal, marzipan, cinnamon and clove. This wine just draws you in and you would be in denial to ignore it.
The palate is mid weight though the structure of the wine builds right through from the front to back palate showing those beautiful French oak characters on the finish and again that lovely richness.
You could pop this one in the cellar for a few years, we think in that 5-7 year bracket and you would still be drinking a great wine. Want to drink it tonight? Carbonara is a classic but keep it simple. Onion, speck, fry it off, introduce fresh tagliatelle, mix, pour in a couple of egg yolks and stir in some Parmesan. Abbastanza!
