Description

Semillon from the Oakey Creek area of the Hunter Valley is as good as it gets. Typically exhibiting all the traditional hallmarks of Hunter Semillon, these racy and tight styles are wines that can handle sometime in the cellar. Showing almost no colour you would be forgiven for thinking there was water in the glass though the abundant aromas of lemon pith, fresh cut orange and delicate wet grass from a wet year, will soon change your mind. Clean and lively, these characters are what we are looking for in great Semillon. The firm acidity on the palate provides a generous length and tight finish while exhibiting a chalky, textural structure to the wine giving grip and depth. Drinking vibrant and fresh while young but will reward with long term cellaring of 15-20+ years. A fantastic match to fresh sushi, in particular salmon sashimi whose richness will pair will well with the acidity.
